Favorite Photo

Day 17, Friday: A favorite photo of yourself and why

This is a pretty recent photo that was taken while I was a model for my friend who is a makeup artist. It was taken in a parking garage in downtown Anchorage. I have too many older photos that I love for so many reasons. I couldn't pick just one!
I chose this one because I really love the texture of the building behind me. I also think it's cool that my hair looks good because I came to the shoot without doing anything to it. I was told we would have our hair done for us, which didn't happen, but it looks nice anyway.
I wish we had gotten more photos from this shoot since we spent a good amount of time outside on the roof of a building taking pictures and it was COLD!

I guess since I never posted any of the photos from the rest of that day I will just include them for kicks...

She used this one for her business card!

Ten Things

Day 14, Tuesday: Ten things that make you really happy

1. Drag Queens. If I'm feeling sad all I need to do is watch RuPaul's Drag Race, Rocky Horror Picture Show, To Wong Foo: Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar, Priscilla: Queen of the Desert or Hedwig and the Angry Inch to feel better.

2. Japanese Lolitas. I think I really love to see anyone who is willing to be different to be true to themselves. Lolitas are just so pretty and adorable too!

3. Rockabilly style.

4. Pastries. Cute and delicious!

5. 80's music. Mostly Duran Duran and George Michael will make me happy no matter what.

6. Kitties. Especially my little fluffy girl, Mrs. Peacock!

7. Tarot Reading. I don't believe they are magic, but I love reading Tarot cards. I love getting readings too.

8. Cities. New York, San Francisco, Anchorage, Las Vegas, San Diego. I hope to see Tokyo some day... I love the city atmosphere and all the great things to discover in them.

9. Art shows. I love galleries and museums. I love dressing up, eating cheese cubes, drinking little cups of wine and talking about art.

10. My family! Duh.

Sorry, I Love Cats.

Day 13, Monday: Issue a public apology. This can be as funny or as serious or as creative as you want it to be.

I'm sorry, but I love cats.

I found a pair of vintage kitty salt and pepper shakers at the market yesterday. It lit a fire in me... I am going to start collecting ceramic kitty figurines. I just can't help it.
I apologize ahead of time to my husband for I will inevitably be dragging him to every thrift store and antique shop in Anchorage looking for kitschy kitties.

As you can see, just like any good internet junkie, I have already compiled a pinterest board of kitties that I wish to have in my life.

A Photo an Hour

Day 15, Wednesday: A Day in the life (include photos from throughout your typical day - this could be "a photo an hour" if you'd like)

This was Sunday since I can't use my phone at work. No one wants to see my work day anyway!

Mrs. Peacock meowing for treats.

I tried out a loose pin curl set the night before.

We took a trip to the outdoor market. It's was a rainy, dreary day.

We decided to get out of the cold and visited this silly souvenir shop.

We love bears!

Lunch at a revolving sushi restaurant. I think this is our new favorite sushi place!

Back home!

Talking to my mom on Skype for Mothers Day.
Making pizza dough.

Waiting for the dough to rise.

Ready for the oven!

Lemon Curd Layer Cake

We had a bunch of Lemon Curd left over from when I made it a while ago so I decided to make a cake with it. I cheated and used a box white cake mix, slicing each of the two layers in half and spreading the lemon curd between each layer. I dusted the top with powdered sugar and had a slice with a cup of espresso.

I seriously need to buy a cute cake plate!

I Miss Guam

Day 12, Sunday: What do you miss? (a person, a thing, a place, a time of your life...)

Not that my life isn't awesome now, but I really miss life in Guam. It was one of those years when so many things were changing so fast. I had nothing to worry about except who I was dating at the time. The island was beautiful and my friends and I had way too much fun. Like, WAY too much fun. We were all completely spoiled and got whatever we wanted. There were some tough times too, though I loved all of it.

I miss the heat and the sun.
I miss wearing dresses and sunglasses. Not that I can't now, but at least then there was a good reason to!
I miss the Japanese food, shops and Japanese tourists. They would come up to me to take pictures with me for no reason. I even saw some gothic lolitas and it made me SO excited! I love lolitas!
I miss the random rain showers that came out of nowhere and completely soaked you before you could run for cover.
I miss stealing bottles of champagne from the champagne breakfasts at the Marriott and drinking them in the ocean at the beach.
I do NOT miss the spiders!!

I look like "that girl" in this photo. Is that bad? Because it was really fun. Playing "that girl" was fun. At least I didn't duck-face.

I had to include this last picture! That was a wild night. Goodness. I definitely DON'T miss that hangover!
