Dia De Muertos Hoodie

I'm so happy I finished up this hoodie! I am excited to start on Joe's bear print hoodie next. It's too bad that the hoodie material is so expensive because I have so many ideas for more. I would love to make one with a lace back for summer. I can probably find some used fabric at a thrift store an make another one fairly cheap.
I really love the heart shaped elbow patches - I cut out a Catrina for one elbow and a sugar skull for the other. The green zipper is a nice detail too.

The pups in the background was sitting happily on a snow pile, haha!

I used the lining fabric for the inside of the pockets too.

Saturday

We went to Taku Park today and Joe went skating on the ramps. We found a super unhealthy place to eat where I got the best teriyaki burger EVER and Joe got some fried oysters.
While Joe was skating I started knitting a hat with Atacama 100% Alpaca wool yarn my mom sent me for Christmas. I hope it turns out as slouchy as I want it to! I always seem to end up with a beanie style hat when I want a floppy hat instead. We shall see!
Mrs. Peacock was helping me knit by guarding my yarn ball, in case the Alpaca came to ask for it back I suppose. She got a little sleepy and fell asleep on duty.

Yellow Dress and a Makeover Party

Today we had a fun girls day! We watched Clueless and our friend Mandy did our makeup. I wore my yellow dress I sewed today, but with this sexy makeup I feel like I need to wear a little black dress. I played with little Jeremiah too. Babies love to pull hair!

Weekend Sewing Project

I finished up my Simplicity dress Friday afternoon and wore it out on Saturday. I wanted to get a picture but I'm very shy about taking photos and I couldn't get one that I liked. I'll get one next weekend though, since I'll be at my friends wedding!

Other than that we spent the weekend baking cookies and picking out fabric to make hoodies. We were probably in the fabric store for a good three hours picking out fabric and patterns. Joe picked out a grey sweatshirt fabric with a cool wild animal print for the lining. I picked the same color fabric with a Día de Muertos print for the lining.

I almost finished up my hoodie today but it turned out the size was a little too small. I'll have to take off the zipper and the bottom hem to fix it. I added heart shaped elbow patches that I'm pretty happy with.

Mrs. Peacock loved playing with the scraps from the pattern. Silly kitty.

Joe loves to make Cookie Monster impressions while we bake cookies :)

Uh Oh! Kitty Footage!

I've been taking so many Vine videos of our kitty baby that I thought I should try to combine them. It's my first try using YouTube!

Weekend Nails #3

Master Plan by Essie
Jewel FX Lavender by Milani

My mom sent me some french manicure strips that I will have to try out next weekend!

I can't wait to get out of Alaska... spring just won't show up! It was getting warmer and warmer and then it just started snowing again. It's always like this every year. I'm glad it's my LAST winter in Alaska.

Lemon Curd

I love lemon! The lemon curd at the grocery store is pretty expensive so I wanted to make my own. It took 7 lemons to get all the juice I needed, luckily my husband did all that for me. It turned out really yummy! I plan on making scones to eat it with.

You need:
1 cup sugar
1 cup lemon juice
Lemon zest
6 egg yolks
10 tablespoons butter

Mix the lemon juice, sugar and zest in a sauce pan. Heat and add butter until everything is smooth.
Wisk the egg yolks into a separate saucepan. Slowly add the hot mixture to the yolk, stirring constantly. Place the mixture back on the stovetop and heat until it reaches 170 F.
